The Dexcom G4 transmitter is a gray “chip” that snaps into the sensor pod on the body. The transmitter uses a unique ID to wirelessly send glucose information to the receiver.
The transmitter lasts six months. Once a user sees the transmitter low battery alert, it is important to replace the transmitter as soon as possible. The transmitter battery may drain as quickly as one week after this alert appears.
IMPORTANT UPDATE: As of August 1, 2020, Dexcom will no longer fulfill commercial receiver or transmitter orders for the Dexcom G4 PLATINUM Professional Continuous Glucose Monitoring (CGM) System. Dexcom will continue to sell Dexcom G4 PLATINUM sensors until December 31, 2020.
